Blog: Social networking sites

Social Networking has been in control of our world for years. Almost everybody has some sort of social media, even if they don't use it. Different social networking sites have different uses. Four different social networking sites are Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin, and Instagram. Each of these sites have a different purpose.
Twitter is used when I want to connect and show support for celebrities. It is also a good source of finding out what is happening around the world. In a way, Twitter has replaced the news. Instead of people telling me what is happening around the world, I can just search through Twitter and see what's trending. It is interesting to see how big the world is through the lense of Twitter.
Facebook is a place where people connect with friends and family. While it is also a good way to keep up with what is happing around the world, a lot of the new aspects of Facebook have a similarity with Twitter. The use for Facebooks is mostly playing facebook games, watching videos, and chatting with friends and family. This is great because people can connect and play games with friends and family from across the world.
Linkedin is a great resource for people searching for a job. It is a social networking site of professionalism. People on Linkedin often share their career goals and accomplishments in hopes that an employer would take a chance on hiring them. The profile picture on Linkedin is often different from any other profile picture on other networking sites. People are usually dressed professionally in order to make a good impression.
Instagram is probably the site I use the most for enjoyment. It is a perfect balance between Facebook and Twitter. The picture sharing site often have a caption that is relevant to the picture. There are a wide array of content posted on instagram. There are comedic, serious (news related), fashion, etc pictures and videos posted all over the site. The explore page is where users can look at and like posts from all over the world while the home page shows posts from people users follow.
With so many social networking sites, it is always good to know how each networking site is used. Other people's use of the different sites will inevitably be different from how I use them. The subjectivity of how people use these sites is great. Regardless of how different people use different social networking sites, people are more connected now than ever before.
